WILD THINGS CHECKLIST
Denali Birding Checklist

One problem people have in Denali is that they find it hard to get close enough to a large, wild animal to take a good photo. Try doing what Kevin Hamel does. Start taking pictures of birds. (See Kevin's profile in our Denali People section.) A bird checklist for Alaska in general is available on the Alaska Fish & Game website. The bookstore at the Denali Visitor Center sells a bird list specific to Denali. Bird watchers come here to see the Wandering Tattler, the Northern Wheatear, and Golden Eagles, among others. Here are some birds you’ll probably see in the Denali area.

1. Common Redpoll   2. Female Northern Pintail Ducks

3. Dark-Eyed Junco

4. Gray Jay    5. White-Crowned Sparrow

6. Yellow-Rumped Warbler

7. Horned Grebe
